Mobile Wallet FAQs
What is a mobile wallet?
A mobile wallet is a way to carry your debit card information in a digital form on your mobile device. Instead of using your physical plastic card to make purchases, you can make in-store payments quickly and securely using your smartphone, tablet, or smartwatch. In addition to payment cards, the mobile wallet can also be used to store your coupons, gift cards, membership cards, loyalty and rewards cards, health information cards, hotel key cards, ticket stubs, driver’s license and more.
How does it work?
After downloading the appropriate app for your device, whether Apple Pay, Android Pay or Samsung Pay, you can add your Level One Bank Visa debit card by taking a picture and entering additional information as required in the application. When you are ready to make an in-store purchase, you’ll hold your device over the payment terminal. Depending on your device, you may be required to enter a PIN or use your fingerprint to verify the transaction. That’s it. You can also use your mobile wallet to make in-app payments and online payments.
Is it secure to pay from my mobile device?
Each time you make a transaction using your mobile wallet, your phone generates a unique, one-time use verification code in lieu of transmitting your debit card number. So your actual card number is never shared with the merchant and it’s not stored on your mobile device, ensuring your sensitive information stays private. Unlike a physical wallet, if your mobile device is ever lost or stolen, it will be difficult to access if you have established a password or fingerprint check.
